The EPOS GOLF tournament takes place for the first time at the GLC Schmidmühlen – Hans Höreth wins a trip in the prize draw – Andrea Schmid and Nick Herding top the gross rankings
At the Golf- und Landclub (GLC) Schmidmühlen, one premiere follows the next this season. This was also the case recently when the EPOS GOLF tournament was held for the first time on the Theilberg in cooperation with the Maxx Royal Hotel Belek – incidentally, it was only the second time that the company had organized an event of this kind in Germany, where it is represented by GLC player Sonja Mündner. A trip was raffled off among the 50 participants at the end, which was won by Hans Höreth.
With excellent course conditions and summery weather, 50 players found their way to Schmidmühlen. They came from the host and from the Baltic Hills and Minoritenhof Sinzing golf clubs. The game was played according to the “Single – Stableford 18 holes” format with two gross and three net scores. There were also special prizes for “Nearest-to-the-Pin” and “Longest Drive”.
In the women’s gross classification, Andrea Schmid from the host team came out on top with 17 gross points (BP). Andrea Krell (15) and Christine Thies (14) – both from Schmidmühlen – followed in second and third place. The gross score for the men was even clearer before Nick Herding (28) from GLCS won and relegated Achim Thomas and Marco Schmid (both 26) – both from Schmidmühlen – to the other places.
Josef Meiler from Sinzing came out on top in the net class A: he won with 38 points ahead of the GLCS players Achim Thomas and Reinhard Thies (both 37). In the equally exciting net class B, which was firmly in Schmidmühlen hands, Toni Tuszynski (42) secured victory. Richard Wagner (40) and Timo Frankl (39) were also on the podium. The net class C was also a GLCS domain on this day. Lukas Kobert (53) gave Christine Thies (42) and Hans Höreth (38) no chance.
Achim Thomas from GLC Schmidmühlen (5.70 meters) came out on top in the men’s “nearest-to-the-pin” competition. GLCS starter Andrea Schmid did the same in the women’s competition with 1.50 meters. Hildburg Ewald (GLC Schmidmühlen) won the women’s “longest drive”, while Sebastian Spiller (GLC Schmidmühlen) won the men’s.
“The event was a complete success,” said Schmidmühlen’s game director Reinhold Scharl, who presented Sonja Mündner with a bouquet of flowers as a thank you, at the award ceremony.
